In the garden, there was the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and there was the tree of life. Adam did not have what the tree of life had to offer—eternal life—he was supposed to journey upward to partake of that tree. His journey was upward; man is the only creature that God gave the opportunity to grow, to come up, to ascend. Man was supposed to journey to a place where he could partake of the tree of life and be safe as God is. It means he did not have eternal life, which is the very life of God. Along the line, Satan transacted with Eve; she ate of the fruit and gave it to Adam, and they fell from the point of glory that God had placed them. It was after the fall that the redemption program kick-started. Redemption came because of the fall; for you to redeem something, it means it was lost. The redemption plan is for our spirit, soul, and body. Man is a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body. Sin touched the spirit, soul, and body. However, the way sin interacted with the spirit, soul, and body differs; in the spirit, it interacted with the spirit and killed it.
